Claire is a trained molecular and cellular biologist with extensive experience leading preclinical and clinical drug development programs. Claire marries the breadth of her broad technological reach, with prime experience in all stages of investments (Seed, A, B, C, IPO, PIPE, SPAC) which she acquired in established corporate venture funds. With this totality, she has proven to be a catalyst for organizations developing transformative technologies, where she is known to build bespoke deal financing structures and business models to generate progress in the community.

Claire has a PhD from the Institute of Genetics, Molecular and Cellular Biology of Strasbourg-Illkirch France, and a Master of Business Administration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Sloan School (Cambridge MA). She has 14 years of experience in drug development acquired at Forenap Pharma, Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, and Pfizer Inc. She was an investor at Samsung Venture America (SVA), Johnson & Johnson Development Corporation (JJDC), and most recently was an Entrepreneur in Residence at the National Institutes of Health (Bethesda, MD).

Associate Director, AbbVie Ventures Europe – Ludwigshafen, Germany

Laura is motivated by the translation of innovative science and technology into exciting biotech startups and actively enjoys finding novel ways to support founders on their journey to establish successful companies. Laura joined AbbVie from the Life Science Team of HighTech Grunderfonds, Germany’s national seed fund. Prior to that, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher and obtained her doctorate in protein biochemistry at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany.

Associate Director – San Francisco, CA

Sim brings both investing and early-stage drug discovery experience to the team. Sim was previously on the investment team at Nextech Ventures, where he led and supported evaluation of biotech companies across therapeutic areas and stages. Prior to his pivot into ventures, Sim gained drug discovery experience as an oncology research scientist at Rezo Therapeutics and Arvinas. A cancer biologist by training, Sim received his PhD in Experimental Pathology/Cancer Biology from Duke University School of Medicine. Sim is driven by his enthusiasm for all things therapeutics-related, and in his role at AbbVie, he aims to advance novel therapies by working at the interface of life sciences and investing.

Jeremy is a medicinal chemist with more than 30 years of experience in small-molecule drug discovery across cardiovascular disease and immunology. He has authored more than 100 articles, patents, and presentations in the field. At Abbott/AbbVie, he built and led cross-functional discovery teams spanning medicinal chemistry, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, and cheminformatics to advance therapies for autoimmune diseases. He is recognized for applying innovative drug design and synthesis approaches to therapeutic compound development. Now a Senior Venture Partner at AbbVie Ventures, he evaluates partnering opportunities across therapeutic areas.

Albert is a cancer geneticist and biochemist with more than two decades of leadership experience across major pharmaceutical and biotechnology organizations. At AbbVie, he leads oncology discovery programs, therapeutic asset development, and external innovation collaborations, including business development and AbbVie Ventures investments. Michael is an experienced Biotech Executive who has spent 30+ years in academia, biotech as well as large Pharma organizations. Most relevant experience was leading Oncology and Immunology Discovery at Merck Pharmaceuticals followed by an EIR role at RA Capital. He was the Chief Development Officer at Capstan and joined AbbVie after Capstan was acquired in 2025.

Sanyal brings 20+ years of experience in driving drug discovery and early development in neuroscience indications. Before AbbVie, he spent 10 years at Calico Life Sciences, where his most recent role was Head of Translational Neuroscience. Prior to Calico, some of his roles included Principal Investigator at Biogen, working on Parkinson’s disease, and faculty member at Emory University, researching neurological disorders. Sanyal earned his Ph.D. at the Tata Institute for Fundamental Research in India.

Director / Senior Principal Research Scientist, Oncology Discovery – Chicago, IL

With more than 15 years of R&D experience across academia and industry (including more than 10 years at AbbVie), Keith brings an exceptional perspective on drug discovery within Oncology and Immunology that spans novel target identification through early phase clinical trials across a vast array of modalities. Within AbbVie Oncology Discovery, Keith is a strategic leader that heads pharmacology teams at across North Chicago and South San Francisco with a primary focus on internal and collaborative Immuno-Oncology programs. As a Scientist-in-Residence within AbbVie Ventures, Keith supports several key aspects of our mission, including identifying emerging companies advancing the best science, mentoring young companies/entrepreneurs, and driving out-licensing of strategically deprioritized AbbVie assets. Collectively, his passions and his work, both internally and externally, are aimed at developing better medicines for delivering better outcomes for patients.

Mike has almost 30 years of drug discovery experience in both biotech and pharma. He currently leads the antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) platform team within Discovery Research at AbbVie which enables all bioconjugate program development including ADCs, siRNA/peptide conjugates and more.
