AbbVie Total Rewards Recognizes Hard Work and Dedication

Our employees’ hard work and dedication is what makes us so successful. Our talent philosophy is simple. It connects each person’s individual success to the success they help create for our company.

AbbVie’s approach to benefits, compensation and well-being—what we call Total Rewards—is built to be competitive. But in addition to recognizing and rewarding individual performance, we also offer employees flexibility and support throughout their changing life stages.

Total Rewards In Action

“In September 2015, my husband and I realized our dream of bringing home our little boy from Ethiopia. AbbVie’s adoption and parental leave policies gave me additional paid leave and I was so relieved. Our son had lived his entire life in an orphanage and was very sick and malnourished. He needed time with us to get well and adjust. The extra time that AbbVie afforded us was priceless! Thank you so much for granting me this time with our son!”

Work-life Balance in Action

“Because of AbbVie’s support of working parents, I was able to build a flourishing career—and ensure my children were thriving as well.”

Kathryn Kalivoda, Principle Pharmaceutical Scientist

Since joining AbbVie in 2005, Kathryn has been able to progressively advance her career. She started out leading the technical support for medicine indicated for prevention and treatment of respiratory distress syndrome in premature infants. Currently, she manages the BioAnalytical group in Science & Technology and leads the support of the group’s key product.

Her passion for children is evident in her work/life balance with her own children, Jack, 8, and Ryan, 5. Located at AbbVie’s US headquarters, Kathryn utilized the on-site mothers’ rooms to nurse her infant sons. Until her boys were in school full time, they were cared for at the Early Discoveries on-site day care, where she was a highly active member of the parent association.
