Week of Possibilities is our global community service event that unites employees around the world with a single purpose: to give back to our local communities through volunteering.
In 2014, AbbVie started its Week of Possibilities volunteering program to unite employees to give back to local communities. During its inaugural year, AbbVie employees volunteered more than 6,800 hours to renovate schools and other learning facilities and provide educational materials to students in North Chicago, Ill., and Worcester, Mass.
In 2015, AbbVie expanded its Week of Possibilities to transform schools and local communities in 45 countries and territories.
The third annual Week of Possibilities in 2016 engaged approximately 5,500 AbbVie employees in more than 50 countries and territories who collectively volunteered more than 25,000 service hours.
Week of Possibilities continued to expand in 2017 with more than 6,000 AbbVie employees in 50+ countries and territories participating.
The program’s fifth anniversary in 2018 marked 19 million lives impacted around the world by the AbbVie Foundation in partnership with longstanding nonprofit partners.
AbbVie’s sixth Week of Possibilities in 2019 engaged more than 8,300 AbbVie employees to support underserved communities around the world.
In 2022, AbbVie reignited its Week of Possibilities after a brief pause due to the pandemic with more than 13,000 volunteers in 50+ countries and territories.

Employee giving and matching
AbbVie offers a year-round giving program that matches the charitable donations employees make to eligible nonprofit organizations through the AbbVie Foundation. Through the program, the AbbVie Foundation matches employee donations dollar for dollar, up to $5,000 per employee per year.

Through the AbbVie Employee Assistance Fund, a part of the AbbVie Foundation, we assist employees at two pivotal moments: when a child goes to college and when a disaster strikes.
AbbVie Employee Relief Program
When the unexpected happens—a large-scale or personal disaster or financial hardship—AbbVie Employee Relief Program is available to provide financial assistance to employees. With more than $2.2 million in awards in 2022, the Employee Assistance Fund supported hundreds of AbbVie employees, including those impacted by Hurricanes Fiona and Ian.
AbbVie Possibilities Scholarship
The AbbVie Foundation offers the AbbVie Possibilities Scholarship to help children of employees achieve their full potential through post-secondary education. In 2022, the program awarded scholarships to 327 students from more than 26 countries and territories.
