Nisha Patel Burns

Nisha Patel Burns is Senior Vice President, AbbVie and President, Specialty and U.S. Therapeutics Operations. She leads the commercial business for AbbVie’s U.S. Specialty brands, as well as the centralized capabilities that fuel growth across the entire U.S. portfolio, including Therapeutic Analytics and Operations, Market Access, AbbVie Patient Services and the Copay Center of Excellence.

Ms. Burns joined Abbott in 1996 as part of the Engineering Professional Development Program and held several roles in Business Development and Diagnostics.

Following an opportunity with General Electric, where she lived and worked in the U.S. and Europe, Ms. Burns returned to Abbott/AbbVie in 2004. She has since held U.S. and global roles of increasing responsibility in Diagnostics, Dermatology, Immunology Market Access, Sales, Biotherapeutics Strategy, Global Commercial Development, Gastroenterology and, most recently, International Marketing and Commercial Operations. 

Ms. Burns currently serves as an Executive Advisor to AbbVie’s Women Leaders in Action (WLA) employee resource group.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and a master’s degree in business administration from Northwestern University.
