Latif Akintade, M.D.

Senior Vice President, Medical Affairs + Health Impact

Dr. Latif Akintade serves as Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs + Health Impact (MHI) at AbbVie. In this role, he leads the organizations responsible for scientific interface with health care providers, including activities focused on evidence generation, medical education, elevating standards of care and scientific communications. Dr. Akintade’s organization is also focused on demonstrating and communicating the value of our medicines to health care providers, health care decision makers, health care systems and society, with the objective of improving outcomes and accelerating access to our medicines for patients globally.

Prior to joining AbbVie, Dr. Akintade was Senior Vice President and Head of Global Access and Value at Pfizer. Preceding his time at Pfizer, Dr. Akintade spent more than eight years at AbbVie as Vice President and Head of Global Market Access and Pricing. He has also held leadership roles across Medical Affairs, HEOR, Market Access, Safety and Pharmacovigilance, and Regulatory Affairs at Eisai. His career includes working as a clinical research physician, and he practiced medicine in various clinical roles within the UK National Health Service.

Dr. Akintade earned his medical degree (MBBS) from St. George’s Hospital Medical School, University of London. He received his postgraduate training in general surgery and pharmaceutical medicine. Dr. Akintade also holds an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business. He is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and a fellow of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians of the UK.
