Human Capital Management

We develop talent to solve complex health challenges and make a real difference in people’s lives.

The wide range of knowledge, perspectives and capabilities of our people is critical to AbbVie’s success in both the short and long term. To unlock their full potential, we focus on attracting and retaining the best talent, embracing equity, equality, diversity and inclusion (EEDI), advancing professional and leadership development and enhancing employee well-being.

Our workplace culture is built on three fundamental guideposts:

Our Principles

Our Principles represent who we are and what we stand for: transforming lives, acting with integrity, driving innovation, embracing diversity and inclusion and serving the community.

Ways We Work

Ways We Work is a core set of behaviors that provide clear expectations for all our people, reinforcing that how we achieve results matters.

Talent Philosophy

Our Talent Philosophy guides how we manage, lead and develop talent at AbbVie.

EEDI

Cultivating a diverse & inclusive workforce

Our EEDI strategy focuses on driving awareness and understanding, attracting and sourcing talent, developing and engaging diverse talent and creating connections and community.

The mission attracts people, but it's the culture that retains them. It's the culture that allows them to think about the opportunities they'll have throughout their career to stay, to grow and be a part of something over time.

Recognition

Top employer across the globe

We continue to be recognized externally and by our employees for our workplace and diversity efforts across the globe, which helps us attract and retain top talent.

Protecting our workforce

Ensuring the safety of our employees across our workplace is a cornerstone commitment to our employee community and human rights more broadly.

Enhancing well-being

We support work-life well-being and flexibility to help our people sustain high performance, productivity and engagement.

Some examples of the support we provide include parental and caregiver leave, flexibility, mental health resources and emergency relief. Through our Employee Relief Program (EAP), we also assist eligible employees during emergencies. In 2022, access to the EAP was expanded to all countries.
