In Their Own Words

“The best professional advice I received was from a vice president here who said, ‘Drive the change, or change the driver.’ When you come to work, it’s about asking yourself, ‘What will be my legacy in this position by making a remarkable impact?’” – Joe Kumor, Site Director, Sligo, Ireland

Joe embodies the importance of operations to AbbVie’s mission of impacting health care and the lives of others. He has spent his entire career at the company, which began with an internship at Abbott while he was still at university. In his first position, he worked as an environmental and safety specialist and then moved to supervising and managing pharmaceutical manufacturing operations. A stint in commercial sales and marketing followed and, from there, he moved into international warehousing and logistics. After spending three years in Breda, the Netherlands, focusing on program and process improvements, Joe worked on business excellence and then moved into his current role as site director in Sligo.
