Striking Out Cancer by Turning Ks into Ws

With every strikeout thrown this Major League Baseball season, AbbVie is donating to charities that help fight cancer and support cancer patients and their families.

Every strikeout.
Every game.
All season long.

Throughout the 2026 MLB season, AbbVie will donate $20 for every strikeout, a deliberate reflection of the 20% of the population worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer before age 75.1

With the league averaging over 40,000 strikeouts annually, AbbVie has pledged up to $1 million per season in donations to support this cause. This initiative creates season-long opportunities to drive awareness and fund critical cancer advocacy and research on a national stage.

About Striking Out Cancer

Throughout the season, Striking Out Cancer will be featured across MLB platforms, including MLB Network and MLB digital and social channels. The initiative and its impact will also be spotlighted during some of the league’s most visible moments, including the MLB All-Star Game presented by Mastercard, MLB at Field of Dreams and the MLB Wild Card Series.

With baseball’s massive platform and AbbVie’s leadership in oncology, the campaign creates a rare intersection of science, sport, and story by turning strikeouts into symbols of awareness and hope.

Our partnership with AbbVie exemplifies the transformative potential of sports-driven advocacy. Every strikeout recorded becomes more than a statistic on a scoreboard; each “K” offers another opportunity in the fight against a disease that impacts the lives of so many.

In 2026, all donations from AbbVie Striking Out Cancer will benefit Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C), a groundbreaking initiative created to accelerate innovative cancer research that gets new therapies to patients quicker. As a founding partner of SU2C since 2009, MLB conducts significant awareness-building efforts through public service announcements, in-stadium promotions and various fundraising efforts.
