Mariana Cota Stirner, Ph.D.

Dr. Mariana Cota Stirner serves as Vice President, Therapeutic Area Head Oncology, Hematology at AbbVie. In this role, she is responsible for the clinical development of all assets in late hematology clinical development.

Dr. Cota Stirner joined AbbVie in 2020 as the Executive Director, Global Development Leader – Lymphoma & Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. Her career includes over 15 years of experience in clinical development.

Prior to joining AbbVie, Dr. Cota Stirner served as Senior Medical Program Lead and member of the Cellular Leadership Team at Bristol Myers Squibb, where she led the next generation immunomodulatory drugs. Dr. Cota Stirner also held global leadership roles at Novartis, working with clinical studies in pediatric oncology and CAR-T cell therapy.

Dr. Cota Stirner attended the University of Zagreb’s School of Medicine, where she acquired her Ph.D. in the postgraduate study of biomedicine, molecular and experimental oncology. She completed her internship and oncology/hematology training at University Hospital Centre Zagreb.
