Sustainable Supply Chain

At AbbVie, we work with the future in mind—collaborating with suppliers to reduce our impact on the environment and manage costs.

Partnering with Our Suppliers

We partner with our suppliers to reduce our carbon footprint and our use of natural resources. This also helps us ensure ongoing material supply, encourages ethical and environmentally sound business practices and enables us to continuously address unmet health care challenges. Learn more about AbbVie’s supply chain and see our suppliers guidelines and resources.

Sustainable Supply Chain Program

We purchase goods and services from thousands of suppliers. Through our Sustainable Supply Chain Program, we work with our supplier network to ensure quality, compliance and social responsibility. We track, measure and report the progress that our suppliers make toward meeting sustainability goals.

Restricted Substances Management

We monitor and review the presence of newly identified chemicals of concern as part of our Restricted Substances Management program. This helps us assess changes to the composition of materials we purchase.

AbbVie complies with global chemical regulations for purchased chemicals, mixtures and parts.

Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism Program

The security of our supply chain is of utmost importance. That’s why our Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) program communicates and verifies the security of our suppliers, focusing on facilities, suppliers and transportation providers that ship products from outside the United States to one of our domestic operations. Suppliers whose security practices fail to meet AbbVie’s Minimum Acceptable Security Level must make improvements before they’re allowed to continue to conduct business with us.
