About Karen Hale

Karen Hale is Vice President, Deputy General Counsel and leads AbbVie’s racial justice efforts to establish a long-term, multi-faceted program focused on helping expand quality education, jobs, healthcare and justice. In addition, she oversees significant high-profile litigation matters.

Ms. Hale joined the company in 1997 in the Litigation department and has worked in key legal and compliance leadership positions, including Vice President and Associate General Counsel, Litigation & Specialty Operations; Divisional Vice President, Commercial Litigation; and Medical Products Group Ethics and Compliance Officer. Most recently, Ms. Hale was Vice President, Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer, leading AbbVie’s global compliance program.

Prior to joining the company, she was an associate attorney with the law firm Sidley & Austin in Chicago, Illinois.

Ms. Hale earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Duke University and a juris doctorate from the College of William and Mary.
