Well-Being in the Workplace

People do their best when they're at their best. That's why we support our employees' physical, mental and financial well-being.

Focus on your mental health

To face day-to-day challenges, our global Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is here to support you. EAP is a free, confidential service that provides assistance and counseling on personal or work concerns, including stress, grief, chronic illness, relationship and family conflicts or financial difficulties. EAP is available 24/7 to employees and to everyone in their households.

We offer webinars for all employees on a variety of mental health wellness topics to ensure you can be your best self, at work and at home. Leaders are also provided learning opportunities to develop the skills and confidence to identify and support employees struggling with mental health challenges and guide them to the right resources.

Live and work flexibly

Our flexible ways of working can help you work in ways most effective for you. Through Where We Work, our hybrid work model for office-based employees, you have predictable flexibility without sacrificing in-person collaboration. The model typically consists of 3 days in the office, and 2 days of remote work. Other kinds of flexibility, which vary by role, include part-time, remote work, job sharing, shift changes, compressed work weeks and more.

AbbVie’s Where We Work model has given me the space to be the type of parent that I want to be.

Join well-being events

Employee well-being events, such as our global "AbbVie in Motion" exercise challenge, provide opportunities to make connections with colleagues while promoting healthy behaviors. Together, AbbVie colleagues around the world logged more than 19 million physical activity minutes during 2022's four-week team challenge.

Create and maintain healthy habits

AbbVie offers free well-being screenings to learn your personal health numbers (blood pressure, cholesterol, body mass index, blood glucose levels and more), and flu vaccinations, including at our on-site health care centers in Lake County, IL.

Fitness center discounts are also available across the U.S., and in some locations, on-site fitness centers are available to stay fit and healthy. Select locations also offer recreation clubs and sports leagues, including basketball, golf, jazz, and language, to name a few.

Enrich your financial know-how

Live for today while planning for tomorrow. AbbVie’s global focus on financial well-being can help you build and sustain your financial knowledge, take control of your current financial situation and establish a plan to achieve future financial goals. In the U.S., we partner with an award-winning provider who offers financial assessments and free educational resources across a range of financial topics, as well as personalized coaching. Outside the U.S., local resources are available. During our Week of Financial Well-Being, we provide resources to help all employees with budgeting, debt management and savings.

Get financial support when it matters most

When the unexpected happens, you can count on AbbVie to help. Through the AbbVie Employee Assistance Fund (AEAF) , we provide financial support to eligible employees during times of major personal hardship or in the event of a disaster. The AEAF, which is part of the AbbVie Foundation, also gives support at another pivotal moment: when a child goes to college.
